Numbers

The numbers that go along with each row/column represent the last digit in the score of the corresponding team (AFC or NFC) and they will be randomly drawn after all squares have been taken.  This makes it so that everyone has the same opportunity to get any set of numbers.  It also means you don't have to know anything about football as it all comes down to the luck of the draw.

How a random drawing is possible on the internet:

To assure randomness, without the benefit of everyone witnessing a "drawing from a hat", the following method will be used:

On a specified date (all players will be notified via email) the digits drawn in the NY State lottery daily number (midday and evening drawings) will be used for the AFC row (top) numbers.  Each non-duplicated digit drawn will be used, in the order drawn by the Lottery, to populate the boxes from left to right.  The boxes will be updated nightly on officepools101.com to reflect the added numbers.  The numbers for the NFC column (left) will use the NY State Win 4 drawings  (midday and evening drawings) in the same way, starting from top to bottom.

For example, if the Daily number the first drawing is 347, the first digits across the top will be 3, 4 and 7.  If the Daily number is 114, then only the first two boxes will be populated (1 and 4).

This all sounds complicated, but it isn't and it ensures that everyone playing has an equal chance.

Terms explained

Correct Score

The square with the correct score is that which has the numbers matching the last digit of the score for each team.

For example, if the AFC score is 27 and the NFC score is 13, the square with the correct score is that which has 7 for the AFC column and 3 for the NFC row.  The 2 (in 27) and the 1 (in 13) are ignored.

Reverse Score

The square which would have the correct score if the score for the teams were reversed.

For example, if the AFC score is 27 and the NFC score is 13, the square with the reverse score is that which has a 3 for the AFC column and 7 for the NFC row.
