13 Run Pool rules


Cost

  • The cost is 25 points for a team, sorry no refunds
  • Your friends, family, neighbors, etc. are welcome to join - have them signup here.

Note:  Split a team with a friend (12.50 pts each) or 4 friends (5 pts each) and split the winnings!

How it Works

There are only 30 MLB teams, so entry is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  A random drawing will determine the team you get.

Teams will be randomly chosen once everyone has joined.  The games starting on Friday, June 23rd will start this pool.

The winner will be the person who has the team that scores all the runs from 0 to 13 (only final scores count) first.

When the pool starts, 14 numbers (0 through 13) are listed for each team. Then, when your team has a final score that matches one of those numbers, this counts as a "hit" and you cross that number off your list (like bingo - see Example below).  The first person to get all 14 numbers is the winner. 

To make things interesting, once someone has won the pool, the person who has the team with the LEAST number of "hits" will win a prize, as well.

Prizes

Total payout is 750pts (25pts x 30 players) awarded as follows:

Winner

The person who has the team that scores all 14 "hits" first

650 pts

"Loser" - and you thought it was a bad thing...

The person who has the team with the LEAST number of "hits" after someone wins

100 pts

In the example above, Tom and Dick are in the lead because they only need 11 more "hits" while Harry still needs 12

 

Notes:

Once someone's team gets their 14th, final hit, all the rest of the games for that particular day count towards the final standings.   So that, if someone gets their final (14th) "hit" in a day game and your final (14th) "hit" comes out that evening, you both win and split the "Winner" prize.  The same goes for the "Loser" prize - all tied players at the completion of the final day of the pool (i.e. the day someone wins the pool) split the "Loser" prize.

More Notes: if your team scores MORE than 13 runs in a particular game, that is great for the team, but bad for you - it counts for nothing in this contest.  Also, the game must be an OFFICIAL game; if it is suspended or postponed to a later date, the runs do not count.
